On March 7, 2011, AequiCap Insurance Company became the subject of an Order Appointing the Florida Department of Financial Services as Receiver for Purposes of Liquidation (“the Order”) filed in the Second Judicial Circuit Court in and for Leon County, Florida. The Order gives the Florida Department of Financial Services full power, possession and control over the assets, business and affairs of AequiCap Insurance Company, including all of the property, contracts, rights of action and books and records.
Pursuant to the Order, all policies of insurance or similar contracts of coverage that have not expired are canceled effective 12:01 a.m. on the date 30 days after the entry of the Order.
For the protection of the policyholders, the Order activates the state guaranty associations in the states where AequiCap Insurance Company was licensed to do business.
