On May 13, 2013, Driver’s Insurance Company (“Driver’s”) became the subject of an Order of LIquidation With a Finding of Insolvency filed May 13, 2013 in the District Court of Oklahoma County, Oklahoma. The Order appoints the Commissioner of Insurance for the State of Oklahoma as Receiver (“Receiver”) for Driver’s Insurance Company and grants the Receiver full power, possession and control over the assets, business and affairs of Driver’s Insurance Company, including all of the property, contracts, rights of action and books and records. The Receiver has appointed Terry K. Smith, CPA, CFP, as the Assistant Receiver (“AR”).
Policies issued by Driver’s will be canceled on the earliest of the following dates:
• June 13, 2013 at 12:01 a.m.
• The date of expiration of the policy coverage
• The date the policyholder replaces the insurance coverage or otherwise terminates the policy.
For the protection of the policyholders, the Order activates the state guaranty associations in the states where Driver’s Insurance Company was licensed to do business.
